Interesting struggle! Could you show me an example? I think after you can recognize a certain amount of kanji, when you write it the wrong way it just doesn't seem to be right.

I occasionally have the same problem, but I agree with Takato that after you've learned enough of them, it often doesn't look right if they are wrong. On the other hand, there are some cases where the same radicals can be ordered in various ways to form different kanji.

Ah, I remember when describing to my former crush that the Kanji for "sing" is "shellfish mouth", then I learned that the Kanji for "member" is also "shellfish mouth" but the "mouth" part is on the top.
