A great thing is to look at the sites where the students look for the teachers.
Pick a few, read the information carefully (pay twice as much attention to the description of their needs: conversation, grammar, exam preparation, what level and so on) and offer your services in an email. Take the time to write not only the basic info about yourself and the practical things (price, place, time), give them an idea about the lessons. How approximately are you going to help them improve, what methods do you suggest and so on. And let them know that everything can be changed to serve their needs. That is one of your best advantages over the language schools after all.
It works for me.
