The pronunciation is indeed quite different. For example, some or most
Brazilians can't understand the Portugal version that easily, at least not before some ear training. I've
heard that the opposite doesn't apply, since Brazilian media is quite common in Portugal (so I've heard), I
can't confirm that, but I can say that Portuguese media is close to zero here in Brazil.
Still, boa sorte! |

Obrigada,
I'm focussing on European Portuguese as the lusophone people I'm most likely to meet in South Africa are
from Mozambique or Angola, where EP is standard. Getting EP language materials isn't easy I've noticed....
I'll probably dive into detail into BP once I've got my base sorted.

I'm continuing with Portuguese on Duolingo, eventhough I have been busy I managed to do at least one
exercise per day, keeping up my - now 18 day - streak. However, prepositions and conjunctions are still
incomprehensible for me; I've got to find aanother I innovative way of learning those....

I thought that European Portuguese materials were easier to obtain, virtually all of
them at the bookstore are printed in Portugal, i.e. from Lidel, but in general,
Portuguese materials, Brasilian or European, are both comparatively difficult to obtain
compared to Spanish, French, or German. Still, obtaining any Portuguese materials are
easier than materials for Dutch or Swedish.
Almost all of my Portuguese materials from the bookstore (Blackwell's or Waterstones)
should be found somewhere on the site:
