This morning, I received an e-mail from the organizers of the polyglot gathering that will be held in June this year. I've confirmed my attendance and booked a room (so, I'm definitely going there ;-). I was wondering if anybody else on this forum plans to be there as well. The programme looks very interesting and the mere fact that so many (probably more than in Budapest) language enthusiasts will meet at one place to discuss various topics and, most importantly, just enjoy talking to each other in different languages is something that adds to my anticipation for this event.
Personally, I'm especially looking forward to practising some of the new languages I'm currently studying. Berlin per se and the conference venue in particular should be the perfect place for that. I have proposed a theme "How to survive grammar", and if that's accepted I'll probably speak in English (as usual), but your question gives me a funny idea: each person who has promised to do a speech should go to the podium and draw a ticket from a hat. And then you do the talking in that language! I actually noticed that on the application form you are asked about the languages in which you might be attending lectures. Yep - I put down English, French, German, Hebrew, Russian, and I think Romanian but I do

I do need to go to Germany this year..... I'll check with she who must be obeyed as I've already said I want to attend a French conversation class without her but that's not absolutely necessary..... might take her Champagne shopping instead and earn some brownie point while brushing up my French. Options options.
