FSI MWA isn't going so well. I listened to those tapes and they meant nothing to me, so I am going back and working very
tediously over the pages. I hope the time spent will be a benefit. But I am really enjoying "Mastering Arabic."
...

My problem is a little different. I can now understand when I listen to short sentences. When the sentences are long. They sprint past me and I only recognise a few isolated words. :-)

I´ll give another link to a lang8 journal. Not sure if it will be disabled again or not.

I am sorry to do this, but with my limited study time, I am dropping FSI MWA for now. It is so difficult right now with the unclear script and no vowels, and
the vocab that I am not interested in. If I am going to spend time on Arabic, I would rather do it on something that I can 1. enjoy and 2. feels like it is
actually helping me. So for now, I am going to concentrate on my Mastering Arabic and some Arabic learning websites I´ve found. Sorry... this isn´t me giving
up, it´s me reevaluating my resources and time for what is most effective for me right now. Maybe once I am more comfortable with the script, I can go back to
FSI MWA. I so wanted it to work because I like the Spanish FSI so well. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know! I´ll post the websites that I
find most useful.

Yeah sure, you can always get back to it later.
FSI MWA is incredibly difficult. Especially for us as we study on our own. There is no teacher we can turn to for help.
That is why I love the Madinah videos. The instructor practically holds your hand and walks you through eachh lesson. And with (a language as difficult as) Arabic, I'll take any help I get. :-)

I really should take a look at the Madinah videos.

Also, found you on Lang8, white rabbit, and sent you a friend request.

This was for an assignment in "Mastering Arabic." We were supposed to look at some pictures and write sentences to describe them. Our descriptive words are a
bit limited right now, so it's kind of funny to describe the dog as light when it is black, but it means not heavy.

Here is the English translation.

This is Jihan's dog, and it is white. Edit:it is key, not dog! Thanks, Napoleon!
This is Jihan's car.
Her car is new and beautiful.
This is Muhamad's dog, and it is black.
His dog is beautiful and light.

Let me know what you think of my writing. If there are letters that need adjusted to make it easier to read, please let me know!

Edit: I am going to put in the corrections that I know about, keep them coming! :-)
*After doing a lot of searching and reading today about Arabic noun cases, I have come to believe that the second word of sentences 1, 2, 4 are all in
the nominative case and need a damma over the last letter. Here is a link with a discussion about noun cases... if the information is correct!

*Sentence three: There should be a ta marbuta at the end of jamil (beautiful)

Ohh, I had tons of trouble uploading that Pic, but I think I got it done this time. Sorry it's so close up. Looks like my writing is HUGE! But that is college-ruled
paper.

Thanks for looking, I look forward to your comments!

Hey, nancy!
Great post! It looks great. :-)

I may be wrong but I noticed a couple of things:
Your first sentence reads miftah (key) and not kalb (dog).
In your second sentence, there is a fatah(-) instead of a dammah (waw) on the ta marbuta of sayyara(car).
There should be a ta marbuta after jameel in the third sentence.

Great job with the pronouns. I have not studied that far yet. I only know the detached forms (huya, hiya, anta, anti, etc.) :-)
