I still use Duolingo from time to time, even though I'm "approaching" intermediate. I think it's very useful for practicing written production, particularly spelling. This is less important with a language like Spanish or German, but for French it really helps a lot.

Therefore, it requires one to be self-motivated and look to external sites for more information and explanations. (I almost exclusively used www.studyspanish.com).

There are tips and notes with every lesson in the French section. I assume this is being prepared for other languages.

If you like gamified learning, try www.lyricstraining.com :) But note that you can't learn to listen solely through music.

Like you I used to recommend lyricstraining a lot, because I'd used it a couple times and thought it was pretty good. But when I tried to use it regularly I just found it frustrating and annoying. I'd rather just listen to music while reading the lyrics.

I'm curious, how often do you use lyricstraining, Serpent? You are probably their biggest supporter on HTLAL! :)

I replied here to avoid sidetracking the discussion. I've also previously explained in various posts in that thread why I love lyricstraining so much :)
