Fakte, ĉi tio eraro estas komuna, sed nekomprenebla. En multaj lingvoj, oni ĉiam uzas la infinitivon direkte post modalaj/helpaj verboj (sendepende de verbotempo), neniam konjugacion. Ne en la anglan (neniam "want to [goes/went/going/gone]"), ne en la francan, la hispanan, la Germanan, la svedan k.t.p. I think the rule is that when you have multiple verbs in a row, only the first is conjugated. The rest are in the infinitive form. So an exaggerated example:
Mi volas memori komenci prepari iri al Japanio. 4 persons have voted this message useful | |||

Maybe it's influenced by structures like "I want it done"? Also especially English native speakers don't analyze what they say. This might be a form of hypercorrection. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

That's possible, but I've heard non-native English speakers make the same mistake, despite that their own native language also uses infinitive. OK, language learning isn't always logical nor predictable.
