Wow, since a long time I do not post anything here. This forum is and will always be in the heart of the
polyglots. Thank you for keeping it.
Well, after being redirected to a "dead post" about the existence or not of the legendary Ziad Fazah, I'm
proud to announce that YES he exists and accepted to be my mentor in languages, particularly Polish. And
he gave me an exclusive interview about his life, languages, divine talent, Viva el lunes episode, and much
more.
I'm a polyglot and language teacher myself, but I have been learning a lot with him. So I'd like to bring this
topic back, and try to destroy some myths.
The episode is free and available on my website and on iTunes (sorry for the self-promotion) but there is no
other way to find it. It's www.mypolyglot.com
I'm open to answer all your questions until the episode goes out, on this upcoming Thursday!

I don't think anyone denies he exists. We're just not sure he can speak as many languages as he claims, and we're not sure what level he's at in those languages.

There's an old thread here where people were not even sure if he existed at least initially. That's definitely not
a problem now. Having had listened to the podcast I gotta say I'm fairly certain now his claims are bogus.

"When you are bestowed by a linguistic talent or any kind of other one, mainly, learning languages requires a great memory, and that I also had it, granted by the lOOOrd."
Almost stopped listening right there.

Ziad Fazah has been a controversial figure here for a long time. If you’re interested in what’s been said about him in previous discussions, here are some links:

The original discussion about him also appears in Michael Erard's book Babel No More
Regardless of what he can or cannot do, try to avoid polyglot bashing. That's not really happening here yet, but it has been a problem in other threads.

Mea culpa then, I didn't realize there used to be doubt about his existence.
Regardless, I listened to the podcast, and I remain skeptical. Moreover, as nikolic said, there were new claims in that podcast that I remain extremely skeptical of. I believe he said he learned 30 new words a day in a language (not extraordinary), but then he also claims to be able to speak the language in two weeks. That means he claims to be able to speak a language with a vocabulary of 14*30 words. 420 words. Not possible.
I agree we can't really judge from one disastrous television interview. But I don't see much else to go on. There are scattered reports here from people who've spoken to him in various languages, and that's fine, he obviously can speak several languages well. But he claims much more, and I just don't see the evidence.

This interview is full of c**p. You don't need context for "que dia é hoje". I can
speak
like 4 or 5 languages, but I can answer this question in several more. It's really
simple. Or do you need more context for "Qual é seu nome?" too?
I've always liked Ziad, but I'm more realistic about his skills than he is. If he
speaks 15 languages now, how come his site offers lessons in all 58/59 languages? How
come he didn't list Vietnamese, Japanese and Hindi in the languages he speaks in this
interview, when he had uploaded a videos in them on YouTube two years ago? He added
Norwegian and Danish, but the Norwegian lady polyglot here on HTLAL said he didn't
want to speak to her in Norwegian? So many question arose after I listened to this
intwerview. I'm never gonna bash Ziad again, but I think he should drop the act he'd
put on.

Something interesting I found.
