had a good day today, not too much work on my language learning, but decided i should try and read at least one article on the bbc mundo site, no dictionaries. And read the first article, and understood a great deal of it, got the gist and many of the finer points. kept reading, ended up reading five or six articles, some i could understand every word in a whole sentence.

i was/am very happy with that, as i didnt think my knowledge was that great, having only finished MT beginner and listening to some podcasts, and a bit of supermemo to refresh what i have learnt.

definitely a milestone day, though i seem to remember having those general skills when i did french at school, but that was 7 years ago, and havent touched it since, nor did i put in any extra work then.

that has spurred me onto hopefully reading bbc mundo every day and progressing more.

Will you read it without a dictionary like you did now,and guess words through context?
Never tried that, but it sounds like a good idea especially if you already know many words.

think i might find out a few words that i dont know later on, but at the minute just try and get a basic understanding of what is trying to be said.
