People living in the USA can order essentially any new book from Germany through the International Book Import Service (IBIS) I have ordered from them once and received prompt service at a reasonable price. Shipping costs are much lower than what you would pay through amazon.de. Two negatives about this company: (1) I had to call to ask what the book I wanted would cost (no Euro/Dollar conversion available on the web site), and (2) I don't think they handle credit card numbers very well, as my entire credit card number appeared on my bill, as opposed to just the last four digits. However, if one payed with a check or money order, this would not be an issue. As I am currently in Germany, I currently have no need to order from them, though I might when I return to the States.

What about audio books? I know they're available in English and Spanish off Audible.com, but what about in the Scandinavian languages, or Italian? One day I want to teach myself Swedish just for the literature.

You can also try http://www.attica.fr which has a decent selection of Fr, De, Es, Ru, and other languages...I am not sure on the international shipping though.

Delivery from Spanish bookshops is incredibly expensive to what I've seen in the UK. I think we've been spoiled by Amazon's free delivery. 10euros to deliver in Spain alone. Upto 15euros for the UK - more than many of the books themselves!
