(EDIT: the text that is discussed in this thread is found here - Iversen)
My dog was bilingual :D
We bought her from Guatamalans so she spoke Spanish initially. We decided to go for English, though.
Out of curiousity I just went to see if she still speaks Spanish. She hasn't been commanded in Spanish for probably 9 months, but I'm happy to report she's still bilingual!

.
This reminds me one day when I was running, with my dog and Ipod, the Ipod was not running actually, I was. I was working on Pimsleur Arabic. Suddenly my dog stopped and sat. What the heck ? I told her to go ahead and she did and later she did the same and sat again with no apprent reason (she's not a Setter not even a hunting dog) and I noticed it was when I pronounced something in Arabic (don't remember what) that she heard as "assis !" or "Sit!" (i taught her the usual dog orders in English and French just for fun). ANyhow you can teach them any sound in association with any order.
Then I can bragg my dog also speaks arabic.

My akita is trained in japanese and while I generally remember and use the japanese commands my family and most people I'm around only speak english. They have trouble remembering the japanese commands so just started using english. 6 months later the dog responds to both japanese and english along with various hand signals. She also responds to 2 different names since for some reason people who only speak english can't seem to pronounce the aza in Azami. Everytime I say her name to someone who only speaks english they ask me to repeat it several times and eventually to spell it so instead she got called various nicknames until one stuck.

I might have gone with Assimil "Alsatian with Ease" (a real course) though perhaps people outside the UK don't call German Shephards "Alsatian's"...
Still made me smile though :-)
