Yes, this is probably true. :) However, in my case, my family is Euro-Portuguese. I have grown up hearing Euro-Portuguese every day of my life, I understand 90% of Euro-Portuguese, and I spoke only Euro-Portuguese until I was six. In my case, I think Brazilian-Portuguese would be much harder to learn than the Euro dialect, just because I have so much experience with and exposure to the latter.
There's also the fact that if I learned Brazilian-Portuguese, I would probably be disowned :/ them portuguese are crazy
