	We've all heard a lot about the FSI language institute in the States, but does anyone know what the language training is like in the canadian foreign service (diplomacy)? 1 person has voted this message useful

	The Canadian School of Public Service deals with language training for government workers. The National Defense has its own Canadian Forces Language School. The Canadian Foreign Service also offers language training for future diplomats, but I don't know if they receive training from the CSPS or another internal source. I've seen some of the Canadian Government French courses at Library Michel Fortin (a language bookstore here in Montreal). Federal Publications in Toronto also lists a number of government French courses, but I haven't looked into those either. Finally, earlier this year I wrote to both Gilles Duceppe (as leader of the Bloc and so in theory someone who should push adoption of the French language for Anglos in Quebec), and Justin Trudeau (as a politician whose latest platform was bilingualism, and of course inherits the bilingual legacy of his father) about making these taxpayer-funded resources avaialble to the Canadian public, in the same way the FSI courses are. It has now been several months and I haven't received any word from either of them. Perhaps I should try again... 1 person has voted this message useful
