Hey, how about Nile. Half of what they sing is in Ancient Egyptian and Akkadian!

Does anyone know of any good heavy metal bands that speak French? I have a friend who I think would benefit from listening to music in French and metal is about all he likes. I want to make him a CD of some...I'd just google it myself but I don't really like this kind of music so I don't know what would be considered "good" by fans of the genre.

Depends on what kind of metal he likes. There's tons of good french black metal out there, especially from the late 90's. I've heard of (but never got into) a few good french death metal bands. Unfortunately, every other sub-genre is relatively sparse and he'll have to look through the deep cracks of the underground stuff.
Ask him about his favorite bands and I'll try to help you.

Maximum the Hormone is a good Japanese metal band. They aren't like death/thrash/black
metal, but the song "What's Up People?" is pretty close.
