I was just scrolling through the HTLAL Member Language Profiles and noticed that there is a new registration (in Sep-09) from somebody calling himself "Schlaftius". The registration shows the name "Dave Starr", hailing from the U.K., and lists an impressive 38 languages learned fluently or being studied. But no posts yet.
I noticed that his Kabyle language entry has a note: "I actually speak Tamazight of Nafusa/Zuara, which is close to the Kabyle language (Berber). This is the native language, with Libyan Darjah Arabic, of my land." The site Phrasebase also has a member entry for Shlaftius, whose profile mentions "born and raised in UK, living in Canton & Hong Kong". Of course, this could be an entirely different person (or old info), but Phrasebase also has a 2005 archived forum thread discussing Arabic dialects in which "Shlaftius" voices some opinions. Does anybody have any information on this wunderkind? I think it would be fascinating to exchange views with this guy, since, from the very limited info I can see so far, his experiences have been quite different from, say, Iversen's, Torbyne's, or Moses McCormick's. ...And let's be good community citizens and not deconstruct this guy until we have more info one way or another, please.
