Lucky Charms, if you like Perfume, you'll like/love capsule. The DJ of capsule produces the music for Perfume, so there are some similarities in the music.

Unlike the other contributors to this thread, I paddle in the shallow waters of No Credibility.
Universally-known top pops with which you might be able to raise a smile at karaoke, especially if (like me) you are a monster macho macho man, are Mayo Okamoto's charming Tomorrow, Puffy's Asia no Junshin, or any hits by Namie Amuro, of which my personal favourites are the monster smashes Can You Celebrate and Sweet 19 Blues, though I think both are quite hard to do. British people of a certain age may also find it easy to pick up the Japanese words for Go-Diego's Gandhara. Relatively less well known, but still personal favourites, are Man and Woman by My Little Lover (or their My Painting, which is easy to do and on the same single CD if you find it) and Dirty Old Man by the Southern All Stars. And one day I'd love to form part of a karaoke power duo with the courage to take on Globe's Feel Like Dance. But that time is yet to come. Well, especially Horizont, Saru, Saishuu Ressha (最終列車), Ware, arubeki Basho (我、在ルベキ場所), Utagoe (謡声(ウタゴエ)), Doshaburi no Shousha (どしゃぶりの勝者), Chiisana Mado (小さな窓), Sorawasure (空忘れ), Kare ga shinda Hi (友達（カレ）が死んだ日)... I won't link to their videos because depending on your location, you won't be able to watch this one or that one. Instead of 10 songs, I'll give you my 10 (or so) favorite bands.
I make no claim to sophistication or good taste when it comes to music. I like what I like, and that includes: The Pillows: a wide variety of music; even my wife likes them. We play their album "Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up!" in the car. "Serious Plan" has some bonus Spanish, Russian and German. Asian Kung-Fu Generation: their albums vary a lot, but I like "Fanclub" and "World World World". I'm a big fan of Porno Graffitti: again, a wide variety of styles. My wife is always amused by the 80s sounds ("My 80s", et al.). I like most of their stuff, particularly "Link" (リンク), "Love too, Death too", "Please Say Yes Yes Yes". Triceratops: "Level 32" is a good album. My boys like it a lot, particularly "Transformer", "Scar" and "Warp". Judy and Mary: My wife hates Yuki's voice, but I like it. Base Ball Bear: Nothing astounding, but I like them. "17 Sai" is a good album. Lunkhead: No idea where I got this, but my boys and I both like them. The Inazuma Sentai: "Katte ni Rock N Roll" is a fun album. The 5 6 7 8s: they sing mostly in English, but are still worth a listen. "Bomb the Rocks" with 27 tracks contains enough 5 6 7 8s for most people, I'd guess. Favorite tracks: "Bomb the Twist", "Jane in the Jungle", "Guitar Date", "Smilly Willy" (worthwhile for the amusing broken English), "Bond Girl" and "I Was a Teenage Cave Woman" A few years ago I asked Clay of The Japan Shop whether there were any country/western style songs in Japan. He sent me Puffy's "Always Dreamin' About You", complete with cow mooing. I used to listen to a lot of Ai-chan and Chemistry, but I think I outgrew them. 1 person has voted this message useful |
