As the title says, what is your guys favorite genre or genres of music? I wanted to see whether or not we all share a similiar taste in music, like we share the joy of learning and using other languages.

My favorite styles of music are jazz and swing, though I do enjoy classical music whenever I just need to relax a bit when I am trying to study (whether for school or for language learning).

Of course, I don't mind some alternative music from time to time and some classic rock. And also, I enjoy listening to all genres in other languages, in fact I am actually able to tolerate rap in German!

I think my name gives it away for me. ;)

Also into solo acoustic stuff, especially some of the more modern and experimental
acoustic players like Thomas Leeb, Andy McKee etc, love classical music, funk and most
styles of rock.

Metal is my favorite genre. Death metal in particular, but I also love black and doom...
My other favorite stuff is trance and songs from Bollywood films. Other than these
preferences, I dabble with some Hip-hop, Arabic music, soundtracks, and whatever else
sounds good to me!

And just to tie this in with languages... I would say a good portion of my music isn't in
my native language. And when it is, it's not always intelligible without reading the
lyrics!

I like a lot of different genres, but my favorite is electronic/techno/house music. And fortunately for me, the genre has a lot of quality music in German and Russian.

Another metalhead here - black, death, progressive, doom, etc.. I do enjoy other genres too of course! Most metal is sung in English (not that you can make out much of it anyway) but two of my favourite bands are Alcest who sing in French and Shining who sing mostly in Swedish.

Almost all of my music is in either Japanese or in German and everyday my English selection is becoming smaller
and smaller. I like rock from German; Preferably Neue Deutsche Härte. I really like Japanese pop and rock.

My favorite genre is classic instrumental music - and while it can have some atmospheric effect while I'm reading it can't have any direct influence on my language studies.
