Hi all!
I started to use the Anki Software. I ask for the experts some question, in order to optimise my learning process
through this software:
- Is it better to have one deck per language or one deck per argument (for example I was thinking about building
vocabulary based on context, so I can create a deck per each context)?
- right now I'm putting the unknown word front side and the translation back side. But this is useful to remember
the meaning of a word from L3 to L2 (in this case L3 is Dutch and L2 is English, I'm not using L1 to study
languages). So I can become efficient in remembering the meaning of an stranger word. But... when talking the
process is the opposite, we start from the language we already know and we try to translate in the language we are
learning, at least in the first times. So in this case would be more efficient to do the opposite (above all for example
with a language like French or Spanish that I'm able to translate at the 80% minimum starting from the words
because are similar to Italian), or not? Maybe the translation process is exactly what we want to eliminate? If I'm not
wrong there isn't the possibility to start a review procedure inverting front side with back side?
Thank you very much in advance!

I have one deck for each language. You can create "subdecks". Than you will get a order like
French
- Basic vocabulary
- sentences
or something else you can create a subdecks for each context. But you can also give them a "tag". I think that's personal preference.
You can add and customaze the cards a lot.
For getting cards with L3 to L2 and L2 to L3 at once. You have to customize the card template.
Learn more about: http://ankisrs.net/docs/manual.html#reverse-cards
I also recommend to watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnbKwHEQ1mA
(You could also creat more cards, kind of three-sided cards. I've four-sided cards for irregluar verbs.)
I prefer to type the words. It's easier not to betray myself, if I have to type the answers in. Another thing that you can add, if you like.
I've also created a second user for anki. The first for my real language work.
And the second to play around, test new card styles ...
I also give you the advice to read something more in the documentation.
Anki has a lot functions, but you must explore them first. That can be a boon and bane depending on your needs.
If you have a smart phone, try the sync-option.

I have one deck per language - some of them include sentences.

In the previous version it was very easy; you just had to browse the whole deck, select all and then change the direction. All the note types make me dizzy now.

In Anki 2 it's also easy. The problem is that you have to order it from the beginning.
Every card has his card style. If you change the card style, you'll change automatically all cards with that style.
The problem starts when you only want to change a few one and they have same card style. Then you have to create new card style and change the style for the cards, which you want to change.
I used Anki and the change to Anki 2 was really hard in the beginning. I had problems to add a single card. Now, I can manage Anki2 with ease.

I think it's definitely worth creating reverse versions of all your word cards (possibly not sentence cards). It is simple to automatically create a reverse card every time you make a card. And if one direction is "too easy", then it will space out a lot faster.
