Swedish In real life I'm of Irish and English (Newfoundland) descent and I was raised in Boston. When young I could understand Irish but replied in English. English Both guesses are somewhat off, but not unreasonably so. I am a huge basketball fan and picked up a lot from movies and other media. Might have influenced what I consider "correct" or incorrect English. I don't really associate much with New Zealandish (and, similarly, Australian) and South African accents / dialects. I have, on the occasion, found them sounding "in between British and American"*, though always hard to pinpoint. Some English have stated the same about my English accent (of course they do hear that I'm not a native speaker). * This is just based on my very own, casually listening perception, I'm not stating any actual scientific similarity here. And yes, please forgive, you native speakers. As for my native language, my native language didn't make the top three. Norwegian and Swedish seem somewhat reasonable as well though, insofar as, firstly, they are Germanic language and, secondly, I am presumably exposed to English (media, internet) almost daily, in the same vein as Norwegians or Swedes - much more than the average German speaker. 1 person has voted this message useful |
