Spanish Harry Potter audio: Two versions | ||

For those of you who study Spanish and use Harry Potter, there are at least two versions of the audiobook:
1. A school and library version. This has a single, very clear narrator, with excellent enunciation. There are no "th" sounds. EDIT: I can confirm that audio is a pretty close match to the Spanish ebook version of HP from Pottermore. 2. Another version, with extensive sound effects, multiple voice actors, and much more "native" audio. I have only heard a short excerpt of the audio, and I have no further identifying information. This version has a pronounced "th" sound. I quite sure that at least these two versions exist, and I thought it would be worth mentioning this on HTLAL. If you need more information, you'll need to ask somebody who actually reads Spanish, and who doesn't just rely on French cognates and guesswork. I have CD sets of both a Latin American version and a European version of "y la piedra filosofal
(Philosopher's Stone); both editions are from manufacturer "Salamandra," and both are unabridged (identica al libro original). The "Spain" version is read by Eduardo Farelo, on 8 CDs, there are no sound effects. (I bought this from Amazon Marketplace in 2008). The Latin American version is read by Christopher Smith, on 8 CDs, no sound effects. I only have the cardboard holder containing discs 5, 6, 7, and 8, since I found it very cheap in a used listing online many years ago. Since I don't have the box that held the 2 cardboard disk holders, I don't know the the ISBN. Interesting that the corresponding disks of the two contain different chapters. Disc 5 of the Latin version contains all of Chapters 8, 9, and 10, while Disc 5 of the Spain version contains half of chapter 10, chapter 11, and half of Chapter 12. I was thinking that means that the Spain version is read at a faster pace, but probably not, since it looks like the Latin version does not split up chapters, so maybe the Spain version is just more efficient in material per disc, since even disc 1 includes 1/2 of Chapter 3 and Disc 8 only includes 1/2 of the last chapter (17). Duh, I guess the easiest way to find out is to match up the total time of corresponding chapters.
