Is there a movie or a book that you know lines by heart just because you liked it and not because you made note cards of it?

Tons.

Then you have nothing to worry about learning French "passively". Just convince yourself that FIA is the best TV series ever written, for the better part of a year, and the program will work in a similar way.

Heh, heh. Ok, I'll give it a try!

What is the best way to use French FSI – cheat! If you don’t like the rules rewrite them to your liking.

Glancing at the FSI French book at the library, I noticed that units 6, 12, 18, and 24 are all for review. (That's 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and the end of the course). The bright idea of starting with reviews came to mind. Although I don't plan to attack FSI French for some time, when I do, I think I'll go after the reviews first. This jives with my inclination and affection for a global approach.

I was wondering, the written exercises at the end of each unit, does anybody normally do these? Can the answers be found anywhere?

Thanks to Linguamor for suggesting the use of "Le petit Nicolas". I was happy to find
that after going through Pimsleur I-III and Assimil that I could read these books with no
problem, and they are great fun! It is great to stop using language learning materials
and start actually using the language.

With the audio it is even better.
