There's also audio available somewhere online (sorry, can't remember where). |

Is the audio supposed to be in addition to the video program? |

Yes.

The forum software may add spaces to the below link and any spaces will need to be removed before the link will work correctly.
http://otter.middlebury.edu/ns-media/frenchmedia/french_acti on/action.zip
The above link has all of the FIA audio, indexed with web pages, in one downloadable zip file. If you have the capability to download and burn the contents to disc it is recommended that you do so. The zip file is a little over 1.7 Gigabytes in size. There are 1765 mp3 files in the download. By the link being posted here with the potential of many people downloading it, it may be that the link will not be working for long.

Thanks to all!
I may not be able to finish the audio download, but I will certainly try.

This is a script to collect the videos on Linux, streaming several at a time in parallel. I don't know why the wiki software breaks the token P_NOWAIT - this needs to be one word. Ignore the warnings from mplayer and use 'ĺs -l' to track progress.
Code:
#!/usr/bin/python
import os;
import sys;
num_parallel=6
todo = ['%02d' % i for i in range(1, 53)]
running = []
def collect(n):
file='French_In_Action_' + n + '.wmv'
running.append(os.spawnlp(os.P_NOWAI T, 'mplayer', 'mplayer',
'-dumpstream',
'mms://media.scctv.net/annenberg/' + file,
'-really-quiet', '-dumpfile', file))
while True:
while len(running) < num_parallel and todo: collect(todo.pop(0))
if not running: sys.exit()
running.remove(os.wait()[0])

Great script, thanks Fizzer. Managed to get it working on my Mac, using the mplayer binary and 'lib' directory
contained within the latest mplayer OSX download. Much easier than streaming and saving them one at a time in
VLC!

Just to update this thread, which seems useful. The audio files can be downloaded in three zip files at https://www.mtholyoke.edu/resources/lrc/french/
That page also has links to other French resources.
