My teacher told me Spanish is very easy to learn, so I thought I might give it a try, but I didn't know they have a sharp V! It sounds so scary and all. I'd better try Esperanto, they say it's the easiest language out there. Is there a Micheal Thomas for Esperanto?

B and V are pronounced the same. Either like an English B, or another sound that we don't have, but that is very easy to make.

its different from region to region, but generally, just try saying b without putting (or smacking) your lips together and you pretty much have the sound

I used to only swear by Pimsleur and Assimil.

lately I bought Michel Thomas Arabic and Mandarin. As MT died lately these programs use the same laid back method, a teacher (Harold Goodman, know on this forum as Volapuk49, designed and teaches the Mandarin one) and a native speaker.

I went through bothe foundation courses and am doing the mandarin "advanced" course. These courses are BRILLIANT. Much more time and money effective than Pimsleur.
My wife has done the remastered transcrition of the English course for French speakers (with a teacher who has a better pronunciation than MT's) and know is doing the remastered transcription of the Spanish for French speakers (both sold by harrap's france) that uses a native speaker: Brilliant.

My feeling is that this is a method that is the best to start a new language especially a very different one (different from romance or Germanic). Then you will be at great ease doing Pimseur and Assimil to expand your vocaulary and print usefule pieces of sentenced in your brain. Maybe Pimsleur won't be that useful, I do not know, I'll tell you for Mandarin.

They also released a michel Thomas russian, and Portuguese (European) , Dutch and Japanese are about to be released next summer.
www.michelthomas.co.uk    You have lots of enthusiastic and in my opinion genuine comments on their fan club forum: http://pub8.bravenet.com/forum/657257956/

One great feauture of the pethod is that they want you to be happy and relax and not try to reain so that you don't get stressed which is supposed to hamper learning.

I can't tel for Arabic since i was not virgin in Arabic when I took the course, but for Mandarin it's really uncredible I can hear myself uttering correct Mandarin with the good tones.

I'd certainly recommend the method.
No conflic of interest.

Esperanto is an amazingly useful and beautiful language. It's 5 to 10 times easier to learn than national
languages, and studies have shown that if you learn esperanto first, learning a third language becomes much
easier.   There are hundreds of thousands of Esperanto speakers around the world, a significant body of
literature (both original works and works translated from other languages).   It's an amazingly beautiful and Fun
language to know. And if you like travel, there are Esperanto speakers all over the world that will welcome you
into their homes for free (no need to pay for a hotel) and give you tours of their city that normal tourists would
never get to experience. There are also lots of Esperanto conferences all over the world that you can attend to
meet other Esperantists. And of course, you can find lots of esperanto communities online (the biggest is
probably lernu.net :).    I'd suggest looking at the following video which describes Esperanto a bit better than I
can.

Im listening to CD 1 Michel Thomas'.

I know what thy are saying about his accent though.
It reflect where he comes from.

Seems very relaxed at the moment, not learnt anything yet.

He says that you will just REMEMBER IT - how does it do that???
Surly, thats the holy grail of language learning!!

(for those of you not familiar with the concept of that phrase "The Holy grail of" It means the biggest secret, the key - If i have offended any other religions with this phrase, i am sorry in advance)

Speaking for French and Spanish the MT method is quite good but he is not a native speaker of either and it is obvious. I mean his accent is not bad and is easily understandable but do you really want to practice pronounciation from a non native model? If your goal is just to be understood then it won't matter that his accent is not native. But if you want to eventually sound like a native then I would go for Learning Spanish Like Crazy and FSI. Perhaps Pimsleur first if you have had no experience in language leanring.
