That PDF looks good. Nice to see some accurate phonetic script. The Saami courses and
tutorials I've seen have all had very sloppy phonetic descriptions. I find consonants
in particular to be troublesome. I've never really understood when they are voiced,
long and/or aspirated, and it's also quite hard to tell from spoken Saami what's really
happening. This text clarifies a lot.
So, if you want to learn Saami, it looks like you should go to – er – Brno ...
I'd still recommend at least learning to read one Scandinavian language if you want to
learn Saami. If you know English, it should be a breeze, especially if you know German
or Dutch as well.
A news and culture site in Saami:
http://www.nrk.no/ardna/ Note that they offer news
broadcasts in North, Lule and South Saami (the red banners).

I may have to do that, hcholm. FSI Swedish may have some use for me, after all.

Does anyone have a downloaded copy of the Brno course to share (http://is.muni.cz/el/1421/jaro2008/BAX001/NorthSaamiBrno2.p df)? I wanted to have a look again to today, but it doesn't seem to be available anymore.
