I just recently watched the movie Paris, je t'aime - an awesome movie that I am pleased to highly recommend particularly to those learning French - some English but mostly French spoken in twenty different vignettes by a wide range of French folk and a couple of issues partially relating to second language understanding. Maybe not entirely for the younger set, due to some very isolated salty vocab items in a couple of the pieces (some of which made Steve Buscemi's eyes pop!)
There are even two people in it that speak French worse than I do - Nick Nolte and the postal worker at the end (and as I strive to set the bar really really low here, that is saying something).
Fabulous visual introduction to a wide variety of Paris (the original idea was twenty stories, one from each arrondissement, but that fell apart apparently), lots of neat scenery, some cool mini-stories, a Parisienne vampire (eating a hobbit) and holy carp, a French mime!

Having re-read my post, I feel obliged to express some outrage at the manner in which I have described the movie, and the serious disservice I may have done its reputation. Unintentionally highlighting Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, a vampire and a hobbit really really does not provide a balanced impression of the movie (but I was not kidding about the mime).
This movie is what cinema should aspire to in my view, with the sole exception of the Oscar Wilde segment directed by Wes Craven (rats, now I have done it again by mentioning Craven, who is only one of twenty different directors, and he has by far in my opinion the weakest segment), and the movie is so much better than may be suggested by my post.
It is without question now my #1 favourite movie (right next to a few other #1 favourites that refuse to step aside).

I saw Paris, je t'aime a few years ago, and I loved it. I especially like the short-film about the young nanny who lives in one arrondissement and goes to another for work.
I also liked the one about the lady who was learning French (she must be the postal worker that you mentioned). I really related to that character - lol!

Thank you so much for recommending this movie! I just saw it, and I love it! It's definitely one of my favorites now. I think the one with the mimes was the best part, although I also loved the one with the family and her little boy, Justin, as well as the one with that one guy (you know . . . that guy!) dating Natalie Portman's character, Francine.
Okay, I loved it all. Thanks for posting about it! :D

I haven't seen this movie in a few years, and I just can't remember any of the stories that you're talking about Serene. I'll have to watch it again.
