For those of you who have Verizon Fios, they are currently offering a free trial of some of their Chinese (1795, 1796, 1797, 1798) and Korean (1760, 1761, 1762) language channels. You do not have to do anything, just tune to those channels.
Also, Fios already offers two free Chinese language channels: Sino TV on channel 281 and CCTV (with some programming in English) on channel 277.
If you subscribe, some of the channels (including Russian, Hindi, Portuguese, Greek) are free for three-months:

Great, but it looks like it's only for about five days according to their website. I wish that Verizon didn't overprice this stuff so much.

Use your DVR...
I know what you mean by the cost. I wish they had a package where you could buy everything for one price. I currently have the Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian packages and the cost is over $70 a month. And I still want the Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Russian channels.

Kind of related, but there's a package for 10 Korean channels on DirecTV for $30/month. Made me want to cry. Foreign language channels seem to be over priced by a mile.

Some foreign language channels offer programing, especially news, for free on their Internet sites.
For example,
France 24 - French, English, Arabic
MBC - Korean
NHK - Japanese
