While exploring the Routledge (Taylor & Francis) website, I came across the series "Grammar in Context". The textbooks are meant to help intermediate and advanced students of German, French, or Spanish improve their skills in reading and writing. Apart from the general description of the contents, which I found interesting, I was astounded to discover this publisher's application of technology. That is, the potential buyer can consult the entire** contents of the books online, thereby allowing him/her to make a more informed decision. While I am NOT endorsing this series, I can state that I have the intention of ordering the German and Spanish editions. I just thought that you might like to know about this. Here are the LINKS. I was just so excited when I made this discovery that I failed to toggle through the "entire" online examination copy. As it turns out, only part of the contents are visible. So then, their presentation is merely a variant what one can see on other websites such as Amazon. Still, it IS interesting, nicht wahr? Sehr interessant! I've been looking for something that would discuss grammar for more of an intermediate learner. I'll admit when I looked at the ToC and saw the topics I thought "this doesn't seem too intermediate, this looks just like the ToC of all of my beginner German books", but I checked on Amazon (you can see a bit more into the 1st and 2nd chapter) and I like how it seems to hold up to the title and show the grammar concepts in context (articles, poems, etc.). Based on that alone, I feel that this would actually solidify/further explain some of the concepts that I'm already familiar with. This will definitely be on my list of upcoming purchases, thanks! The book Reading German: A Course Book and Reference Grammar takes an unusual, but quite effective, approach to German grammar and reading skills. I would recommend it to anyone who is just entering the Intermediate Level and who wishes to move to the Advanced Level. The texts are presented in German, along with English translations.
