The other day I was looking for a person's profile and happened to notice that the four most senior members in the forum have the "register" date September 14th, 2004.
I also noticed that there are posts bearing the same date.
So, I think it's appropriate to say:
Happy 10th Birthday, HTLAL!

Reading this I became curious as to the members who wrote here in the pioneer days. Among the first four one ist a 'guest', and our Administrator is of course the first member. I joined in July 2006, about two years after the launching date, so I have seen a fair number of the early members while they were active. Just for fun I looked through the chronological member list for 2004 and 2005, and I may have overlooked some members who still visit the site, but don't write messages - but I did check names like Frenkeld, Fanatic, Darobat and Daristani, and it seems they still visit us, even though they don't write anything. Al-Malik is active, but until I saw the 5-years jubilee thread I hadn't noticed that he also joined in 2005, like a number of other venerable dinosaurs who still are very active as message authors: ElComadreja, Luke, Chung and Jeff Lindquist. My apologies if I have overlooked somebody.
A few members from 2006 are also active: LeoSmith wrote some messages a fortnight ago, Lugubert and FuroraCeltica have written messages about three months ago, OneEye and Raincrowlee about half a year ago. But from 2006 there are so many known names that it would be too timeconsuming to check everybody, so when I reached my own account I changed strategy - I just checked the most prolific writers and looked for names from the noughties.
Among the most prolific writers from back then Serpent from 2006 is still a very active writer, Sprachprofi joined in 2007 and somehow still finds time to write here, while Volte from the same year unfortunately has retreated into silence. Fasulye is noted as such from 2008 (but was known under another name in the beginning) and still writes, like Bao and Ellasevia (though not as much as earlier), whereas Cainntear from the same year sadly ran into trouble some years ago and had to stop writing.
And Luso himself from 2008 is of course also a name that recalls the olden days of yore which some of us had the opportunity to experience.

10 years... It doesn't seem like that long ago.
