This one's not true for everything; there are certainly some skills where there are unpleasant activities that
are essential for improvement.

The thing I note is acquisition (versus learning). There, the value of pleasure seems to be clear.
On the other side is learning, which might involve a certain amount of drudgery, such as FSI drills, for
instance.
These two sides, in my mind, have their own S curves. Each one has limiting factors. Without some of each,
certain skills may be more difficult to attain.
Krashen has more faith in the student and the spirit.
Pedagogues have more faith in their expertise and methods.
