There's a famous quote by Christ: "thou art neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm," but I don't know what the original Greek phrasing was like.

Here's the English (KJV):

Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

The Greek (Textus Receptus, which the KJV is based on):

Revelation 3:15 οιδα σου τα εργα οτι ουτε ψυχρος ει ουτε ζεστος οφελον ψυχρος ειης η ζεστος

Revelation 3:16 ουτως οτι χλιαρος ει και ουτε ψυχρος ουτε ζεστος μελλω σε εμεσαι εκ του στοματος μου

In German, so-so would be translated into 1 word: mittelmäßig (im Sinne einer mittelmäßigen Leistung).

It's Swahili. The literal translation is "half-half", but the meaning of the whole word is so-so.

The Swahili translation actually derives from the Arabic colloquial phrase nuS nuS (نص نص). This derives from the word niSf which means "half". So the phrase is something like "half and half", just like the Swahili.

Norwegian: "så som så", literally meaning "so as so". You might also say "bob-bob", but no way you'd find that in a dictionary. It's an expression which I believe comes from a christmas calendar show (is that the right term?) which aired in the mid-90's and somehow got stuck in the language.

The only word I can think of in Hungarian is meg.

For example, if someone asks how you are and you want to say "I'm so-so", you'd say "meg vagyok". But meg also has about a million other meanings and uses LOL
