In Norwegian the "å" has apparently won the battle. In Danish ´'og' has almost won in the spoken language, but the battle is still raging in the written language, with "og" as the more formal and conservative variant.
Actually the situation with a movement verb plus something that can be done is likely to induce a sense of purpose. It should be pointed out that there is a very common, but not very polite formular with imperatives which basically means "mind your own business": "Rend og hop".
PS I really enjoyed 1e4e6's description of certain features of Danish pronunciation.

The quirkiest things about Danish pronunciation (rarely or never mentioned):
a) lispy/hissy s [ ṣ ], which sounds more like Northern Spanish S than S in most languages of the world:

b) uvular consonant [ʁ] is weak, being realized as [ɣ ] or [w] and many times inaudible/dropped, and is not pronounced as clear as in
Hanover German, Parisian French, Southwestern/Bergen Norwegian or Southern Swedish:
