I've just read 'Die Romanischen Sprachen' by Rainer Schlösser (C.H.Beck, 2001, ISBN 3-
406-447678), and his opinion is that Sardinian is the closet language to Latin, and
that Corsican is a Tuscan dialect.

La Corsica è un'isola del mare Mediterraneo, la quarta isola più grande dopo la Sicilia la Sardegna e Cipro (italiano)

Here you can see how Corsican is close to Italian . Corsican is closest to the middle age Italian.

Roumanian is a slavic-roman language , more slavic than latin .
I don't understand it at all , spoken or written .
