A couple I have watched and liked are "The White Ballon (Badkonake Sefid)" and "Children of Heaven". They are well known movies and both are available on youtube in full with subtitles! I felt the dialogue was simple and fairly easy to understand in both films.
I second the recommendation of About Elly, although I have not seen it. I heard it was excellent, though.
My SO's favorite Iranian film is Hamoun by Dariush Mehrjui, but he says it's really hard to understand totally without being from Iran. But it might be good to take a look at. It's on youtube with subs also, but I haven't watched it yet.

I enjoyed "Baran" which has been mentioned. Another movie that hasn't been mentioned is "The Stoning of Soraya M". It's a little on the heavy side, being about a stoning and all, but was rather well done.
