I've been using memrise off and on for a couple of months. I have never been asked for a dime and have learned more than expected. Retention is suprisingly good.
I found a problem in using it early on. A minor annoyance, but I provided feedback and within a month there was an added feature that resolved my issue. I presume they were already working on it, but if you dig, you'll find they are very active in improving the site and very responsive to users. Recently, I found a discussion with the author of the course I use, Ben Whately. He was actively soliciting feedback, responding to every user and offering future ideas for the site to see what interested people. Just now, I logged in to see that I had his name right and I see they've made a change. It's a font change that I had seen a discussion about. Users provided feedback that they'd had trouble reading in different fonts, and now the font used for Mandarin has been changed to assist. I agree, the site staff is very responsive. I'm a curator for Japanese there now, and all the other curators make a nice team as well. If this some day follows the path of smart.fm, it'd be very sad indeed. Let's be optimistic..

I'm using this site right now. It is pretty fun and addicting, especially when you try to compete with other
users. Before I was just using SpanishDict, but I like how this helps you remember words while enjoying it at the same time. 1 person has voted this message useful |
