Pretty much 99% of Romance words in Dutch come from French. Which eventually come from
Latin. So in this case, I don't really care for arguing - but you are right that the loan
is not direct.
There are exceptions, like "museum".

Words from Romance languages, i.e. Latin, French, Spanish, Italian, etc. Some 20-25% of
Dutch words fall in this category.
