I was expecting funnier. I kept waiting for a punchline...
Why did they have to make it 7 languages? I think it would have had the same impact with two, or even one foreign language.
But now I'm trying to analyze humor... bad idea!

There is nothing there to "get" and nothing in any way particular to the English language.

Well, I'm a native speaker of English, and I didn't get the "joke" either.

Well, to me, it was funny because it made the "translator" look so ridiculous for having the audacity to approach it that way. I think it makes fun of her ignorance more than anything.

I hate both clips. The first one at its best seemed boring and overdone, and at its worst is practically racist, as if only English is a language and everyone is just making animal sounds. The second... what kind of idiot doesn't know what a polyglot is? Did he not make it through middle school? Doesn't sound like an "impressive resume" to me. And what kind of interview question is that? Did he expect him to just bust out in 10 languages (oh, and NOT include that on his resume)?
Sorry if I'm being too critical. :)

seems you people are over-politically correct.
it's a joke, and should be seen as such, not as racism.
i love catherine tate, although this clip wasn't really that amusing.
the second clip was alright, just a tad stupid, some people would find it funny at least.

"Polyglot" isn't a very common word for lots of people, I'd wager. Speaking for myself, I would be very surprised if I asked the majority of students I know on my campus if they knew what it meant and got a correct answer. I still think a lot of them would use the term "linguist" instead.
