Hey Katie, as an european myself i can tell you pack in warm clothes! i mean really warm not just "some sweaters" warm - i mean "take scarves on" warm
ive a friend from australia, he said he would die by our temperatures, he also said he has no idea about snow - so take this advice: snow is not just cold also wet - so take clothes that are not fully out of wool
the umbrella advice was a good one too

Hello Katie,
could you give any details of your planned journey? Are you going to travel across Europe, visiting many countries, or do you intend to stay in one or just several places? Will it be southern, eastern, northern Europe? This does make a difference, because the clothes suitable for Italian winter certainly won't be warm enough for Latvia for example. I suppose you are aware of that, I don't mean to patronise you but I need more exact information to give you a good and helpful piece of advice.
wishing you a great stay in Europe ;),
szaten
