This is a good way to put some of those language pairs to use! The multilingual website Global Voices Lingua Project is seeking volunteers to translate from the following languages: Arabic, Bengali, English, French, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and- "other" into 30 languages
"The Global Voices Lingua Project amplifies Global Voices stories with the help of volunteer translators. It opens the line of communication with non-English speaking bloggers and readers of Global Voices by translating content into 30 languages. We also welcome volunteers who can translate from one of our languages into English, or even collaborating as writers of news pieces. If you are not a translator, there are many more ways to help!" quote from the link provided above.
Global Voices is also a good site for making your own parallel texts and reading parallel texts. The quotes are given in the original language with the translation underneath usually. Articles are often written in one language and translated into several languages. Copy and paste into a 2 column text document and voilà- parallel text. Check out their home page: Global Voices for multilingual articles in all the big European languages and Arabic, Aymara, Bengali, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Macedonian and more.
