If you're beginning Spanish you might like to try www.300bclearning.com. This website has a list of 3,000 Spanish vocabulary items broken down into semantic categories for ease of learning. The really good thing is that there is a mnemonic for learning each word. For those of you who don't know, a mnemonic is a memory device that aids recall by creating a visual image to associate a word in the learner's natural language (in this case, English) with its translation in the target language (in this case, Spanish).

Mnemonic learning was used widely in the ancient world (hence the site's title) and the results are impressive if used correctly.
