Can anyone recommend/advise against any self-learning materials suitable for older
children? Something akin to an 'Assimil Lite'where they can have the lessons or
whatever on their mp3 players to play/repeat aloud whenever they want. Nothing too
complex. Basic phrases, maybe some songs and to reinforce the numbers and colours
they've already learned.

I have a nephew who is 11. He's had some casual French teaching in his primary school
classroom and has enjoyed it and has surprisingly good pronunciation. He's still a year
off secondary school.

His sister is 9. She's had a couple of casual Spanish lessons when they had some
Spanish visitors in the school and likewise really enjoyed it. She's also got an
interest in my Chinese books.

Their mum is really busy and uninterested in languages herself. So something that
doesn't need adult help/guidance(I only see them every couple of weeks).

Would the Assimil 'Sing Your Way to French' be suitable?
