Give it a try!

Not always, only to those who study the languages available. Although I don't remember ever reccing it to a Dutch learner.

It's a fantastic site and I'm glad it finally has its own thread.

A cautious old fogey writes: Can I be the only wet blanket here?

Does it only work properly if you register and sign in?
(it's fading out after about 1½ lines for me at the moment).

I kind of get what it's doing, but what specifically is it helping you with?

It seems like you get to hear all the words, but only get to read a proportion - more
if you are a beginner, fewer if you are an expert.

So is it testing your audio recognition?

Of course I can see it's fun, but one can listen to songs in your TL in other ways, so
I'm not quite seeing what's so special.

I don't like signing up to things until I know what's involved, and there is little
explanation on the home age, but a lot of advertising, which is not a good sign. Will I
get bombarded with spam once I sign up?

EDIT: OK, I found the help button, and am getting further. We old fogeys don't always
see so well....

(later edit): And lo, you have another convert here...Oh dear, I can see lots more time
being "wasted" now :)

Haha I love your post.
It worked just fine for me before I registered, and I didn't get any emails from them at all (apart from the one confirming my registration). No "check out our shiny new features", no nothing.

When you listen to songs as a beginner, your mind may wander easily. This site prevents it and keeps you concentrated. Also, it's just more fun than simply listening. That's also the biggest collection of songs with synced lyrics - you can find some on youtube, but it's hit-and-miss, and the lyrics in videos show no more than a couple of lines at a time.

As for the mode, you choose it yourself. Beginner mode makes you type 10% of the text, intermediate 25%. expert mode is typing the whole text. Usually you start out as a beginner and then try the harder modes when you already know the song quite well.

I thought I was doing great (if slow), then I realised there was a time penalty!
Still lots of fun though. :)
