Some time ago, MarcoDiAngelo set up the Parallel texts project. The original forum
thread is:
http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?T ID=19917&PN=1 and
the project site is http://www.bilingual-texts.com/
These are really fantastic materials, I've been studying with them for some time.
I have a small book publishing business, and with some work, I could adapt the
materials on this site into printed books. I think people will appreciate having
printed copies, and more people will be able to discover and use these materials if
they are available on Amazon.
To do this work, I'd like to get permission from the original creators of the bilingual
text files. Unfortunately I don't know who they are. I know siomotteikiru made a lot
of them. Please get in touch so we can make an arrangement. You can send a PM. I
tried to get in touch with MarcoDiAngelo but I think he hasn't posted in a while here.
Regards
David

Afaik MarcoDiAngelo published siomotteikiru's work without permission, he got very upset
about it and stopped sharing his wealth of home-created materials. A few months later,
siomotteikiru quit the internet. I doubt you will get your permission, from him at least.
Other forum members have been creating parallel texts, but mostly of things that are
still in-copyright, e. g. Harry Potter.

Thanks for that. I've been digging up old posts to try and see what happened. If anyone
has any more information or knows how to contact siomotteikiru please let me know.

MarcoDiAngelo certainly did not make them himself. At least two of the texts can from me.
I passed them on to siomotteikiru, who then (apparently) passed them on to MarcoDiAngelo.

I've been looking more carefully at the files and doing some thinking. The existing
materials would still need quite a lot of work to bring them all into a uniform,
consistent format. I have done some experimentation, and I've found a format (using
sentence-level alignment) that gives good readability and appearance. I've also
figured out a workflow.
AN OFFER:
If anyone is interested in working with me to align texts, please leave a message below
or send a PM. This offer is not only to the original creators of the texts on
MarcoDiAngelo's site. I will provide the required format of the texts, and provide
instructions on how to carry out the work. Once the alignment and checking is done, I
will handle all other aspects of the project (interior design of the book, cover
design, setup with the printer, etc.) We can work on the basis that the contributor
receives a royalty on each book sold, or this royalty could be paid to a charity if
numerous people end up working on a single text. We can work out the details together.
Look forward to hearing from you.
