I have this strategy in mind, and do a similar thing, except I do not always think in
the
language. I cannot remember the last time I read a newspaper or watched television in
my
nativeĀ English, but I think this idea is good. I watch cricket a lot, but I watch on
mute. I like travel programmes, so I watch EspaƱoles por el Mundo. Anything of interest
(TV, etc.) should be done in the foreignl anguage I suppose. In another thread I had
the idea of this
living in the foreign language, for example, my mobile phone is in Spanish settings, my
computer is on Spain's keyboard setting, and computer settings in Spanish (including
browsers). Even with background dialogue, if there are family members who speak in
one's dwelling in the native language, the strategy is countered.
The problem of course, is when one lives in one's native language country and
must attend university or work. Assignments, projects, dissertations, research, and
communication in native language due to this situation will probably be
counterproductive
to the strategy however. Also counterproductive is having to go to the store for
alimentations and signs, etc. are in one's native language.
