Several people have recommended I read comic books/graphic novels in English, but I don't know where to start. Could you please suggest some?
So far, the only comic books I've been reading semi-seriously are Garfield and Tintin (I read Garfield in French and English, and Tintin in French.)
I also liked the Smurfs a lot at some point, but only had access to the French version.
I think it's really important that I add some diversity to my learning routine.

I liked From Hell, a graphic novel about Jack the Ripper.

You could try Calvin and Hobbes. Those books are hysterical and they use a lot of good vocabulary
(even some words that I don't know).

I read Persepolis in Portuguese and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was originally written in French by Marjane Satrapi and is the story of an Iranian girl growing up in post-revolutionary Iran who later moves to Europe for her education. I highly recommend that you read it. The language is colloquial and at the same time, powerful. The English translation is a good one.
Safe Area Gorazde is a graphic novel written from a journalist's perspective about what happened in the Bosnian enclave during the war following the breakup of the former Yugoslavia. Safe Area Gorazde- Amazon.fr

My friend likes Oglaf. It's 18+.
No, I'm not playing innocent hehe. I just don't do things in English.

The Walking Dead, though depressing at times, is fantastic.

I second that suggestion.
There's also 'Peanuts' with Charlie Brown.
and then there's the wry cartoons from The New Yorker.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes.
Some of Oglaf's comic strips look pretty cool... not all of them though. I'm okay with 18+ material since I'm over 21 anyway.
