Today I learned about the whistling language, Silbo Gomero, which comes from the Canary Islands. How
fascinating! Do any of you know it? Any Canary Island folk on this forum?

It likely came from Africa ages ago and nearly died out a few decades ago. Now it is a compulsory subject for all school children.

Turkey also has a village, named "Kuskoy" (Bird Village) where people use a whistling language to talk at distances. Here's an article about it, with a video clip:
