My favorite word in German is "Artillerie." We're
watching The Downfall in my German class and I'm
taking every opportunity to comment on the
artillery in the movie.

I love the German word for "gloves": Handschuh. "Hand" is the same as in English, and "Schuh" means "Shoe". Hand shoes!

I like the russian word далеко (far, away), it sounds beautiful to my ear, it reminds me the echo reverberating on the distant mountains
I also like some words like блин: it has the double meaning of "darn it!" and "pancake" :)

I like tiffin from British India.
When I was growing up, there was a rather nioe chocolate bar with that name, so it
always had good vibes for me, but of course, has a wider meaning than that sort of
snack, especially in Mumbai.
I'm always tickled by the German use of our word "handy" for "mobile phone".
Not loan words, but I love the Welsh "pili-pala" for "butterfly" - there are many words
for it though, apparently, and some Welsh speakers don't count that one as real Welsh.
"Popty ping" for "microwave oven" is similarly frowned upon by purists, I believe.
"ling-di-long" for "at your own pace" is, I think, regarded as proper Welsh though.

It's a French loanword but the pronunciation is different in German ([ˈʔatʰɪləʁi] or [ˈʔaɐ̯tʰɪləʁi]), which is probably why
dumbl3d0re likes the word. The way it's pronounced in German, it can sound very aggressive and militaristic,
especially with a Hitler accent.
