This is excellent! I've used MT's method for Italian and loved it. When I decided to learn Norwegian I just sort of took it in stride that I'd have to find another means of learning. This is amazing! I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to your progress. Ha det :-)

Thank you for your support! I've been lacking some inspiration to continue, but I'm planning to make 2-3 hours
now in the autumn vacation ( 2 weeks from now) I've found a simple way to explain the past tense, and we will
cover many norwegian expressions, and similarities to English.

I can certainly understand the need for inspiration. All I can tell you is how excited
my daughter and I were that I had found someone out there that was taking the
initiative to create an MT-style course for Norwegian :-) It might seem odd that your
idea struck such a chord with me, but MT was really the only course where I felt like
I was truly learning a functional version of the language. My daughter was picking it
up faster than I was! I showed her your audio last night and she remarked, "He's doing
it just like Michel!" Haha, it was great!
So needless to say, I'll be on the edge of my seat for the next series. Until then,
I'll put tracks 1 through 4 on Loop and be satisfied with that!
If in the future you have a PayPal account or something, let me know. I'm not a
wealthy guy (lower middle class in the U.S.A, and I think our dollar is basically
worthless to Norway!) but I feel like your time should be compensated somehow.
Take Care!

Wow, that is a very nice story! I have some notes lying around for about 15 minutes more, if i find them, i will
record them as soon as possible, very nice story. I realize that the pace is quite rapid, almost stressful in the
tapes, but since i have no student at hand it is difficult to see (å se) where to cut some slack to make sure
everyone is a happy camper.
Why are you interested in learning Norwegian? =)
I was planning to make a free one hour course, and find some way of charging about 10-20 dollars for the next
6-7 hours, so don't worry about compensation.
also, the lower middle class... horrible state america is in now, and i hope you will stand for change and vote at
the elections! I'm not going to get all into politics or tell you who to vote for, because both McCain and Obama
stand for change, and are very respectable both. Oil drilling offshore is very important since the entire american,
and most of the worlds, economy runs on oil, so as some people (especially europeans) think, McCain isn't all
bad, but personally, I'd stick with Obama.

This is excellent. Great job. Would you mind sharing the technique/structure you
followed to develop the course? I want to use it to produce something similar in
another language. A few weeks back I tried asking how one could go about designing a
course similar to michel thomas for less popular language, and some morons derailed
the discussion into MT thomas vs everything else argument.

I first became interested in Norwegian through a camping trip when I was younger
(13years old I think). My family and I were camping in the Sequoia National Forest
during the summer when an unexpected storm hit our area. The rain was pouring so hard
that one of our tents almost slid down the hill! We were trying to channel the rain
around our tent when a couple of young women (they were in their early 20s at the
time) came from their campsite with a shovel so that we could dig more effectively! We
thanked them and had them over for dinner later that evening.
The girls' names were Margo and Elisa. Elisa had this amazing accent and so of course
my 13 year old heart fell in love instantly, haha! I asked her where she was from and
she said Norway. She was an exchange student living with Margo. I had always been
fascinated with languages and at the time I was studying Spanish. We hung out with
Margo and Elisa through the week (we even went on a bear hunt!). Margo knew Norwegian,
so I would hear them speaking from time to time. Seeing how interested I was, Elisa
offered to teach me Norwegian! I spent the rest of the week learning some basics. We
exchanged mailing information and for a few months she would write letters, both in
Bokmal (sp?) and English. After a while though we wrote less and less until finally we
lost touch.
At the time I had no other way to continue my studies so I moved on to Italian.
However, my first love was with Norwegian. Over the past few months my daughter began
to really show an interest in learning languages. I immediately thought of Norwegian.
How great would it be for she and I to learn it together!
So that's where my interest came from :-)
Your pace is just fine, no worries! I like that you fit so much into the time
allotted. I simply pause it when I need to or go back, no problem! I’ll definitely be
willing to pay for the courses, so when the time comes just let me know.
As for politics, I was voting for Ron Paul, but since that isn't feasible, I would
much rather see Obama in office than McCain. I'm taxed enough, I can't take much more,
hehe.

Excellent! I've been wearing out the tracks I have. :-)
About how long, on average, would you say one track takes to structure and record? I
imagine it's got to be a fairly long process.
