I think he's for real, based on his own admissions of his weak points. He's learning Turkish now, in his "advanced age", he says, just to see if he's still got it.

Whatever. You cant expect to log onto a language board and claim
fluency in 22 languages and show no bona fides, without being
scrutinized for it. If we just gave the guy the benefit of the doubt at such
a bold claim, it would ruin the integrity of the forums. Of course i invite
enigma to prove me wrong, there's no shame in being humbled- in fact, i
would find it most inspiring!

This kind of forum has useful tips, advice and interesting posts. It's not strange for someone to like reading it. This doesn't mean they have to post.
Subscription makes navigation of the forums easier (helps watching new posts etc).

I agree. But surely someone who is fluent in 22 languages have more tips to offer than someone who's struggling with 2 or 3? ;)
Like Solidsnake, I am a little skeptical and would like to learn more about Enigma and see if he has any advice to offer the rest of us. There's nothing wrong with just creating an account and not using it but it would benefit everyone in all members were active as we all have a lot we could learn from each other.

Gentlemen, please let us not indulge in polyglot bashing. Although I can too sometimes be spectical of some people's fluency claims on this board, there is no reason to become agressive with them. If you can't stand people who speak many languages, this is clearly not the discussion forum for you. I will try to ask Enigma some more details, which he gladly provided last time I asked, but in the meanwhile I will ask you to be respectful and considerate with him, who might be the board's oldest and most distinguished member.

I was thinking this might be Barry Farber, but his languages don't quite match.

I had thought the same thing but Mr. Farber strikes me as the kind of person who would at least say hello in a post, even if he didn't have the the time or inclination to be an actively posting member.
