Haha I didn't know he had that many books! I've read 1984 and Animal Farm so there're a
few novels left. Anyway, my first bilingual reading in Russian is likely to be The
Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, so that one will have to wait =D

So, I kicked my first Russian test of the semester's ass! 99%!
Which basically means I
made one real (mindless, brainfart) mistake and a couple minor things, like
punctuation.
She kind of just improvises with the percentages, I think...But that's ok with me! :)
The
mistake I made was that I wrote eto instead of etot, but like I said, it was just a
mindless mistake (kak po-russki "brain-fart"? haha). I just wanted to get out of there,
I
guess...I also got 100 percent on my диктант (spelling test). :)

Btw, I just found this. I think it's
amazing!

My congratulations!

@Mark: Spasibo! :)

@Expugnator: I have only read 1984. I think it would be interesting to read in Russian!
And I love Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I wonder how it would translate, though...If
I remember correctly there is a lot of word play involved. It would
be interesting to see how they manage to convey it in Russian. :)

Well my Russian class was cancelled again. Too bad! (not). So it looks like I'm on my
own. I have two sets of homework to do, so that should keep me occupied!

I don't know, but I hate repetition, re-reading, reviewing as I told you =D I'd rather pick up new information AS I learn Russian (or Georgian, for that matter). Still, I remember nothing about The Hitchhiker's Guide and I think nearly the whole series is translated into Russian, so, THAT'd be fun. Re the translation, for someone who read Harry Potter in Portuguese, I must say our translator managed to find better wordplays than Ms. Rowling did :)

And is Mrs. Rowling paying him for the improvements / ideas for another book, or suing him? ;)

Actually I don't think she is paying much attention to how the Harry Potter's names were translated into Brazilian Portuguese, but the translator himself might be wasting his talent at writing his own fantasy books.

Yes, many a translator are frustrated writers who just couldn't find their ways into publishing their stuff. Even regular 'native' writers from everywhere have to knock on many doors to get anywhere themselves -- think Ms Rowling no less ;)

I just want to say, I haven't given up on Russian. I have just been taking care of some personal problems (it's
not that bad, I just don't know how to say that without it sounding really serious haha). Basically, I haven't
really been in the mood for languages. And plus I didn't have Russian class all last week.

Anyway, I want to tell a story in Russian :D

Вчера был мой день рождения. Теперь мне 22 года. Мы с моей семьей ходили в индийский ресторан.
Я очень люблю индийскую кухню. Я ела курицу и цветную капусту. Дома мы ели торт с мороженым.
Подарки я ещё не получила.
