Anyway, I'm quite aware that this is just a small piece of corpus and doesn't prove much. Maybe other Portuguese speakers will say what they think about the subject.

I agree with Flarioca. For me, both have the same meaning.
However, I think I'd say:

- "Eu trabalho aqui há dez anos", and not "Eu trabalho aqui faz dez anos"

but

- "Faz dez anos que eu trabalho aqui", and not "Há dez anos eu trabalho aqui"

I can't explain it, and I still think both are gramatically correct, but I'd say it like that.
